HnR Nothhaft Horse Racing LLC (HnR), founded and owned by Henry R. “Hank” Nothhaft, originally located in California, is headquartered in Texas.  The acronym, HnR, derives from the first name initials of Hank and his wife Randie.  HnR’s Navy Blue and Gold silks honor Hank’s alma mater the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD and Randie’s Father Roy M “Butch” Voris founder of the Navy Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Team.  HnR participates in all phases of thoroughbred horse racing with a strong emphasis on homebreds and the welfare of our horses.

HnR breeds for its own account, and for commercial sale, with a portfolio 20-40 horses primarily located in PA, MD, KY, and VA. HnR is breeder of 2016 Breeders’ Cup Female Sprint Champion, Eclipse Award Winner, and 2016 PA BRED Horse of the Year Finest City.  HnR also bred and sold TDN Rising Star and Multiple Graded Stakes winning filly Daddy is a Legend.  Daddy is a Legend is by Scat Daddy out of HnR mare Randie’s Legend and Graded Stakes Winner Palazzi by Pioneer of the nile o/o HnR mare Kindle.
HnR campaigned multiple graded stakes winner and millionaire Living the Life (LTL) (IRE) in the U.K. where she won the All-Weather Filly and Mare Championship in 2014.  After importing LTL to the U.S., she won the Grade 2 Masters’ Stakes 2014 and 2015, and in 2016, defeated a field of 10 male horses to win the Grade 3 All American Stakes.  LTL won 10 times in 35 starts amassing $1,028,000 in career earnings.  LTL is an HnR Broodmare who produced Multiple Stakes Winning filly Living Magic (KY) by Justify. Living the Life (IRE) is in foal to Justify carrying a 2024 colt.
Other HnR stakes winning horses include Kindle (KY), a sprinter by Indian Charlie, a multiple stakes winner with brilliant speed.  Now an HnR broodmare. she has produced 2 stakes winners, colts,   Made in America (Tiznow)  (campaigned by HnR),  & GSW Palazzi (Pioneer of the Nile). Her 2nd foal, a colt by American Pharoah, sold as Hip 76 Keeneland November, 2017, for $400,000.  Kindle 17 was resold as Hip 91 November 2018 for $2,200,000 & purchased by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.  At the time, this was the highest 2018 price paid for any horse at auction in the U.S. The colt is now named Confidential Act.
Made in America Kindle’s first foal produced a 6 3 2  0 Record with earnings of $112K winning the Forego Stakes in January, 2021, at Turfway Park.
Kindle’s 3rd foal is Palazzi, a 2018 colt by leading stallion Pioneer of the Nile.  A 3/4 brother to Confidential Act, Kindle 18 Hip 40 at the Saratoga Select Sale was purchased  for $510,000 by Team Casse for well known owner John C. (Jack) Oxley.  Graded Stakes Winner Palazzi, also winner of the Texas Cup Turf Stakes, with a 25 5 3 2 record and $492K earnings.  Kindle delivered an Into Mischief colt in 2020 in training for HnR Horseracing with nome de plume of American Symphony and delivered an American Pharoah colt in 2021 now owned by MyRaceHorse named A day to remember. Kindle is currently in foal to Justify carrying a 2024 colt.
Mister Nofty (PA), 2013, a colt by Scat Daddy out of Walking Path by Bernardini is HnR’s first homebred, HnR raced, stakes winner.  Grand Prix (PA) 2014, by Tale of the Cat out of Be Envied  by Lemon Drop Kid became our 2nd homebred stakes winner in June, 2017.  Grand Prix, a multiple stakes winner, is 1/2 sister to Finest City (City Zip) Breeders Cup Sprint Champion and Eclipse Award Winner.  Grand Prix retired to become an HnR Broodmare and delivered a Mendelssohn filly in 2020 named Wings of a Song.  Grand Prix was sold in foal to Munnings at the Fasig Tipton NIght of the Stars in 2021 for $600K.    Fielder became HnR’s 5th PABRED stakes winner when he took the Marshall Jenny Stakes in a thrilling dash to the finish on July 22, 2018 @PARX in Bensalem, PA. Fielder was PABRED Sprinter of the year for 2018.  Still active in 2023, Fielder has 64 starts, 12 wins, 7 places, 15 shows with $510K career earnings to date. HnR’s current stakes winner is Prodigy Doll.  Acquired in 2021,  Prodigy Doll won the Cheryl White Memorial Stakes with 2022 Kentucky Derby winning Jockey, Sonny Leon, in the irons and is currently active as a 4 year old. Prodigy Doll’s career record is 23 starts 4 wins 5 places and 2 shows, $281K earnings. Our latest stakes winner is KY homebred Living Magic (KY) by Justify o/o Living the Life (IRE). During her 2 yo efforts Living Magic (KY) won the My Dear Stakes at Woodbine and the Chelsey FlowerStakes atBelmont at the Big A. She also placed in the Presque Isle Debutante and the Astoria Stakes at Belmont. Living Magic (KY) won her MSW first asking at Parx compiling a 6 start 3 win 1 place 1 show 2 yo record with $191K earnings.
In PA, HnR  was a syndicate partner in leading Mid-Atlantic third crop sire El Padrino, a son of Pulpit, out of Enchanted Rock. He was 1/2 brother to leading young sire Verrazano.  El Padrino was the leading 2nd crop sire in the Mid-Atlantic Region.  HnR owned and stood Breeders’ Cup Sprint Champion Silver Train in PA, whose crops ranked at the top of the Mid-Atlantic Sire Standings.  HnR owns seasons in several other leading sires.
