The Sale

Highest-Priced Colt of
Cody’s Wish’s First Crop

He sold as Hip 81, unnamed, at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale’s select session on November 3, 2025, bringing $500,000 from trainer Wesley Ward. Ballysax Bloodstock consigned him as agent for Two H’s.

Two days later, the Paulick Report named him the most expensive weanling by Cody’s Wish to come out of the select sessions, one of only three Cody’s Wish weanlings from those sessions to clear $400,000. The only other freshman sire to clear $400,000 twice in the select sessions was Up to the Mark.

By the time the full 2025 season closed, only one Cody’s Wish weanling worldwide had brought more: a filly out of Union Maiden who sold for $550,000 at Keeneland November. That left this colt as Cody’s Wish’s highest-priced colt of the year and his second-highest-priced weanling overall, from 15 sold.

The Sire

Cody’s Wish

Cody’s Wish stood his freshman season at Darley America’s Jonabell Farm for $75,000, the highest debut fee of any 2024 freshman sire. Breeders sent him some of their best mares, and in the fall of 2025 his first foals reached the ring.

By Curlin out of the Tapit mare Dance Card, from the La Troienne female family, Cody’s Wish raced to 16 starts, an 11-1-4 record and $3,106,030 in earnings. He won the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) twice, as a four-year-old and again at five, along with the Metropolitan Handicap (G1), the Churchill Downs Stakes (G1) and the Forego Stakes (G1). He was voted 2023 Horse of the Year and Eclipse Champion Older Dirt Male. Per Darley, he owns more Grade 1 wins at a mile on dirt than any other colt in history.

The Dam and Female Family

Catching the Wind

Catching the Wind, a two-time winner of $43,770 by Justin Phillip, is a first-time producer. This colt is her first foal.

Her dam, Catch My Fancy, by Yes It’s True, produced nine foals to race and eight winners. The colt’s aunts on that side stand behind a run of graded stakes horses two generations back, his first cousins rather than his direct siblings.
