Difficult task to get any horse to the starting gate in good form. Much greater challenge to make it happen in the 2 yo year, but w/o starting the journey will not take place.
Such is the situation for Living Magic, a 2yo Justify filly o/o MGSW Living the Life, and Singular a 2yo colt by Street Boss o/o Move, 1/2 to Ecilpse Award Winner Finest City. After initaly being raised in Kentucky, both matriculated to Eagle Point Farm for Virginia Certification and initial training. Both graduated to Fair Hill Training Center and the open arms of trainer Phil Schoenthal, February 19th.
Singular, a PABRED, and Living Magic, a Kentucky Bred, trained continuously since the fall of 2022, with only a short holiday break. Both are large, athletic, big boned and easy keepers. As a resutlt, the dream of early 2 yo starters continues. If everything goes “perfect” with no setbacks we could see either or both in some early 2 yo races in the spring. In the meantime, we continue to enjoy the anticipation until something happens to stop us!
iving Magic’s journey to Fair Hill started @CoolmoreAmerica, where not only does her Dad live, but Mom, Living the Life is domiciled there as well. LM is named after mom and dad. Living clearly come from LTL and Magic comes from the 1st dam of Justify. Justify, the now 2nd crop sire and Triple Crown Winner, is suitably famous. Mom is no slouch as a 3 time graded stakes winner, including one against males, and $1M plus earner in 35 start/10win career. Plans are to breed Living the Life to Justify again this year. Living Magic shipped to VA in August as a yearling.
Singular’s path is a bit less regal and a bit more blue collar than Living Magic. Street Boss is a grade 1 winning son of Street Cry and has performed well as a mid pack stallion for Darley now standing for aout 10% of Justify’s stud fee. Move is by Silver Train, who was owned by HnR Horseracing, is an HnR Horseracing homebred and a hard knocking though non black type mare. Move is 1/2 to HnR bred Breeders’ Cup champion Finest City and Multiple Stakes winner Grand Prix. Her first foal is Lingfield Park (PA) who has been consistent at teh allownace level in the Mid-Atlantic.
